What a click records#

  • the time;
  • the country;
  • the host of the page the visitor came from (the referrer);
  • the device, browser and operating system family;
  • a flag for bots and link previews;
  • a visitor hash made with a salt that changes every day, so unique visitors can be counted for a day.

What is never stored#

The IP address and the full user agent are never stored.

Bots and previews#

Known bots, chat and social link previews and a flood of clicks are flagged as bots and shown apart from people, so your totals are not inflated. A HEAD request is not counted.

Where you read it#

The dashboard shows totals, clicks per day (people and bots), top links, referrers, countries and devices. A link's own page adds uniques, browsers and systems, over 7, 30 or 90 days.

The counting is after the answer#

The redirect answers first. The click is counted right after, so counting never makes a visitor wait.
