What we keep about a click
Linkaloo counts what a link owner needs and leaves the rest. The list of what a click records and what it never does.
To know how a link does, you need a few things: when it was opened, from which country, from which page and on which kind of device.
You do not need the visitor's IP address, so we do not store it. You do not need the full user agent, so we do not store that either.
To tell one visitor from many, Linkaloo makes a visitor hash with a salt that changes every day. It can count a person once for a day. It cannot follow them across days.
Bots and link previews are flagged and shown apart, so a chat app fetching your link does not look like a hundred readers.
